Or you just need friends who aren't quite so absurdly incompetent. It's an irony of technology that sometimes the most knowledgeable are the worst at using it effectively. (Arguably, this is one of the central theses of XKCD.)
Texting should work. Unless the message is too long, in which case it gets converted to voicemails, and I think I'm locked out of my voicemail.
